The region of Kenaboi is well known for some interesting waterfalls & nature attractions. But there are actually more interesting places other than the well known Lata Kijang, Lata Dinding & Jeram Berungut. Kering Falls is a waterfall series upriver of Lata Kijang which shares the same stream source. There are 2 documented levels with a lower cascade fall and a vertical drop horsetail fall upriver with a triangular pool suitable for swimming.
This waterfall is NOT suitable for beginners due to the rather strenuous and long trail.

Head to Kg Chennah as the nearest landmark village. From the small roundabout take the junction towards Kg. Esok. A well paved road with some scenic mountain views passes several riverside campsites and leads visitors to the interior which ends at Taman Negeri Kenaboi. (here) There are plenty of parking spaces here but it can get quite crowded during weekend holidays. Register yourself at the counter and pay for the forestry permit on the spot before starting the hike.
Start the hike by following the tarred single track jungle trail. After passing a small bridge, visitors will reach a Y-junction. Take the right uphill trail going to Gunung Besar Hantu & Lata Dinding Fall. The left trail goes to Lata Kijang Fall. Scale the continuous uphill slope before reaching the peak where the elevation levels out. Continue following on the main path without deviating to any side paths till arriving beside a stream at 3.20299, 101.99035. From here, scale the faint trail down to the stream where there is a small cascade found. (Image 1.) River trek for a short distance the rest of the way where Kering Falls 1 is located. (Image 2.) Kering Falls 1 is less than 3m tall but the fan spread cascade with shallow soaking pools is a great spot to take a break. To continue to the next waterfall scramble back up the slope to rejoin the main trail.
Once back on the main trail, follow it for some distance before reaching a checkpoint clearing. There are 2 junctions here where one of the path continues beyond the stream crossing; while a second junction which does not require crossing the stream on the right continues in deeper into the jungle.(Image 3.) Take this path that also leads to Gng Besar Hantu. Follow the clearly visible foot trails where visitors will reach another stream crossing. Break off from following the clear trail that crosses the stream and instead start river trekking upstream from here. There are faint narrow foot trails on the left side of the stream that will eventually lead to Kering Falls 2 after a short distance.
To exit, follow the same entry trail.

Exploration Notes : There is a known small waterfall level with significantly less water upstream that is accessed from a checkpoint known as Kem Orkid. Usually visited by hikers along the Gng Besar Hantu trail.
