Sabut Falls
Sabut Falls is a waterfall series with 3 known waterfall tiers. This waterfall is not one of the well known tourist attractions of Tioman Island (unlike Lubuk Teja, Ali Fall and Asah Falls) and visitors will not find any information about it anywhere. Only local villagers nearby would perhaps have any prior knowledge of this waterfall. The trail to the waterfall is short from the main road but unmarked and wild. This waterfall is NOT suitable for beginners to attempt without guidance.
As of 2025, there is only one way to reach Tioman Island which is by ferry. There are no commercial flights to Tioman Island. There are 2 ferry service operators, Cata Ferry and Bluewater Ferry that departs from either Tanjung Gemuk (Pahang side border) or Mersing (Johor side town). Visitors also need to be aware that Tioman Island consist of 7 villages either on the east, west and south of the island which are not completely interconnected by road access. Depending on the ferry operator & seating capacity, the ferry will not be stopping at every village and visitors will have to arrange further transport either by rental motorcycles, island taxis (pickup trucks) or by speedboat. Visitors can familiarize themselves of the island layout by referring to the map below. (Image 1.)
Both Sabut and Ali Falls are situated on the east side of the Tioman Island. While sharing the same valley, both do not have the same stream source. Sabut Falls do however start from the same cemented hill access road linking Tekek & Juara village. Head to the trailhead @ 2.80222, 104.19580 (Image 1) where a faint trail is visible.
