Chegar Falls is a series of 2 falls where the stream cascades down a moderately wide sloped rock. The waterfall does not have a large catchment basin and would be best visited during wet seasons. Chegar Falls share the same trailhead with the better known Seminyang Falls.
This waterfall is NOT suitable for beginners to attempt without guidance due to the unmarked trails where the hike involves mostly river/riverside trekking.
Chegar Falls
Head to Karak as the nearest landmark town. From Karak, head down south towards Telemong town. Near a bridge there is a junction (Image 1.) to turn into Jalan Telemong. Take this junction exit and head to Kg Orang Asli Sg Bot (here). Pass the orang asli village and a short distance away is an open clearing. Large groups can park their vehicles here. Ensure to park responsibly to not be an inconvenience to others. Proceed by foot from here on out.
Instead of proceeding straight towards the old hydro power station, look for the left side junction. From the junction look for the Sg. Chegar stream. Hop down to the river and continue via river trek. There is a possible hill trail on the right of the stream but it has not been verified. River trek following the gentle stream where visitors will find a short cascade fall (Image 2). Continue upstream for roughly another 550m, where Chegar Falls 1 is in sight. It is a continuous sloped cascade but only with higher water volume would it be more impressive (Image 3). To reach Chegar Falls 2, carefully scale up the rock slope.
To exit, use the same river trek out or; try hiking up the slope on the left to connect to the orchard roads and loop back down.
