Perah Falls is a series of 5 documented waterfalls that has been hidden in plain sight for the longest of time under the curtain of Lubuk Kawah Falls. While the lower falls are well known with guide ropes present, the trail did not continue further upriver. The magnificent falls upriver was only discovered back in 2022 when explored by a few avid hikers. The highlight of the series is Perah Falls 4 (main photo), which has a tall 2 tier vertical drop into a moderate sized pool with a very strong misty breeze. This waterfall is NOT suitable for beginners to attempt without guidance due to the vague trails. Visitors are also highly advised to pre-check the weather conditions for the day as there will be a main river crossing at the beginning of the trail. This river will swell up in height and be too powerful to cross (no bridge) if there is heavy rain in the region.

Head to Tanjung Malim as the nearest landmark town. The trailhead of Perah Falls is the same as Lubuk Kawah. From Tanjung Malim town there is a left junction (here) going in to Kg Simpang Empat Dalam. The village road inside is tarred but can be narrow with several branch junctions that is pretty confusing. Deeper in visitors will encounter an important junction which will direct visitors to either Perak or Selangor border side roads. Keep left on this junction (Image 1.) and continue following the main narrow road deeper in up to a campsite beside the river.(here) Do note that the google maps road markings may not be labelled accurately and lower sedan cars may struggle to pass some sections that are more rutted and poorly maintained. In the event that visitors cannot proceed further, do park responsibly by the road shoulder where there are empty clearings without obstructing others using the same road. Proceed by foot from here on out.

Once again before starting the hike, visitors are highly advised to pre-check the weather conditions for the day. There is a main Sg Bernam river crossing at the beginning of the trail that has no bridge. This river will swell in height and volume if it has been raining in the region. Visitors will get stuck and be unable to cross back.
After crossing the river follow the main trail where visitors will pass a rubber estate. The trail is well used and visitors are advised to stick to the main trail without any deviation. At the end of the trail is a few shelter structures where visitors can take a rest. Lubuk Kawah is situated just nearby down towards the river.

At the end of the trail is a river crossing a tributary stream. This tributary stream is the outflow of Sg. Perah. On the left hand side nearby is a jungle trail. This trail on the left hand side of the river will pass a few smaller cascade falls with pools. There are rope guide lines that is visible along the trail that ends at a 2 tier cascade fall. (Image 2.) This is Perah Falls 3.
The rope trail inexplicably ends here without any continuation. On the left, visitors have to scale up the slope where there is a vague trail from past visitors. After scaling up the slope, the elevation levels off where visitors can hear and spot a tall waterfall on the right. There is a vague trail down where visitors will reach Perah Falls 4.(main photo)
To exit, follow the same entry trail.

Exploration Notes :
Upon further exploration, there is another level found. Perah Falls 5 is a tall and sloped cascade fall. This waterfall is not easy to reach and should only be attempted by experienced hikers. Flanked by tall rock cliffs and with a moderately sized pool, it is an interesting scene.
