Perangin Falls is multi-tier waterfall with a tall main 2-tier drop fall. There are low height cascade falls downriver with small pools in lush jungle surroundings. The trail to the waterfall is not difficult but a section of the hike passes thru an oil palm estate which have junctions & trails that can be confusing. This waterfall would be suitable for beginners to attempt as a group.

Visitors can use this recorded trail as a guide.

Lata Perangin Main Falls

Head to SMK Proton City as the landmark. At the end of the road near Ujana Mualim there is a forked junction. Keep left and do not take the right junction going offroad. At the end of the road is a water reservoir building with plenty of parking spaces. (Image 1.) Visitors can park here and proceed by foot.

Walk in deeper on the tarred road at the end of the parking area where there is a left junction going into the jungle. The trail to the waterfall is straight forward with only gentle elevation climbs. The trail is wide and clear leading to an oil palm estate. Turn right at the 1st junction heading uphill towards the jungle.(Image 2.) The path will enter the jungle where visitors will come across an extensive network of roots from a nearby big tree that is spread across the trail. Footing is uneven here and extra care is needed to avoid tripping. Sounds of the flowing river can be heard where visitors will eventually reach the 1st cascade fall pictured below.(Image 3.)

The trail to the main fall is a little more challenging from this point out. Cross the river to the right where there are ropes to help scale the rocky slope to continue upriver. After passing 2 more cascade falls, visitors will arrive at the main fall.
There is a small trail going up to the top tier of the waterfall. The trail is quite dangerous and requires clinging onto tree roots to scale up. The surface of the rock slopes are also slippery. Beginners are not advised to attempt this section. The falls documented are pictured below.

Trivia : An orang asli family that we met on the way out provided us with the name of the river, Sg. Pasu. Earlier explorers who found the place may have used the nearby Bukit Perangin as the basis to name the waterfall.
