Talam Falls
Talam Falls is an interesting waterfall series with 5 levels of waterfalls spread out over the length of the stream. The waterfalls found here are tall but none that is significantly vertical in height; they are instead sloped or continuous cascades with soaking pools at many levels. There are visible trails but it is not often used and may be covered by overgrown weeds and jungle bush. Beginners are advised to engage a guide and not attempt to visit this waterfall by themselves.
Head to Kampar town as the landmark. By the south of Kampar town is a small housing estate called Taman Timur. Near this housing estate is a stream outflow with empty spaces (here) by the road shoulder for parking. Ensure to park properly and be careful of passing traffic along the state road. Proceed by foot from here on out on a dual track trail on the left of the stream.
Both routes will eventually join to follow the same hill trail on the right side of the stream before reaching Talam Cascade Falls 4.(Image 4) To continue, follow the hill trail going up the slope for a short distance before going down a small junction to fall 5.(main image)
Exploration Notes : Further exploration upriver have not been attempted. It would be fairly certain that there are a few more waterfall levels. Will update on a future revisit.
