Badak Falls is a series of 4 known waterfalls of various type on the north eastern side of Gng Jerai mountain. Similar to other streams within the Gng Jerai mountain region, this waterfall has dark tea coloured waters due to the presence of naturally occurring tannin from floral life. This waterfall was contributed and documented prior by fellow waterfall enthusiast Faye but she only visited the 1st waterfall of the series. There are 2 particular waterfalls that stand out within this series. Which is given the name Air Terjun Dinding & Air Terjun Puteri Bersiram. Air Terjun Dinding (#2 Fall) is a 3 tier cascade fall with a deep pool nested within tall vertical rock cliffs.(main photo) Air Terjun Puteri Bersiram on the other hand is a rather unique narrow vertical drop ribbon fall that cascades down between the narrow crack of the tall rock cliff. Cascading down into a moderately sized pool, the crevice behind the waterfall hides a small cave as well that visitors can explore!
The jungle trails to the waterfalls are well visible but beginners are NOT advised to attempt this without guidance.
Badak Falls 3 (Air Terjun Dinding)
Head to Gurun town which is situated on the northern end of Gng Jerai mountain. At the foothills of the mountain is a housing village called Kg Sg Badak. At the end of the road is a small abandoned building (which used to be a stall) and parking spaces by the side of the road. Visitors can use this (link) for directions to the trailhead. Visitors should park responsibly and note that the main access road is used by orchards/farms deeper in. Proceed by foot from here on out.
The trail starts off by crossing a concrete bridge before continuing on a dirt road walking path. Deeper in within the borders of the jungle, visitors will reach the 1st junction. Take a left here and proceed towards the river side. The right path is claimed to be a trail to another small "cave waterfall" but it is not yet verified. The trail passes the Badak Falls 1 (Image 1.) and leads to Badak Falls 2 (Image 2.) which is a wide flat sloped rock cascade fall. There is a moderately sized pool here which visitors can enjoy. On the left side of the fall is a trail for visitors to scale and continue river trekking upriver. The rocks at this particular section is more "squared" in shape compared to the usual circular rocks. The trail continues on the left side of the river where visitors will reach the next waterfall known as Air Terjun Dinding. (Wall Falls - main photo)
Visitors should practice caution at Air Terjun Dinding, the v-shaped pool is deep and its dark colored waters camouflages the dangers and risk of drowning. The turbulence of the pool also varies from gentle to fast flowing, depending on the water volume of the season. To proceed upriver, take a left side trail going up the slope. At the top of the slope, visitors can get a nice viewpoint of the tall vertical rock cliffs. There is a trail junction here, take the right to proceed to the next waterfall. The next waterfall (Image 3.) have been coined the name Air Terjun Puteri Bersiram (literally meaning : Bathing Princess Falls). The tall vertical rock cliffs and narrow surroundings are imposing and gives a sense of claustrophobia. Visitors should pay attention to any changes in the weather and be aware of possible falling loose rocks. In such narrow environments, water levels can rise rapidly if it rains and falling small rocks at such tall heights can cause serious injuries. To return, use the same trail to exit.

Exploration Notes :
Badak Falls 4 is not the last waterfall of the series. There is another waterfall level called Batu Bertindan Falls that have been documented by local explorers at roughly 480m elevation. Unfortunately due to the lack of time it is not visited in person.
